Free tour of Liverpool’s old dock

Grab a free tour of Liverpool’s Old Dock – the world’s first commercial wet dock, courtesy of Merseyside Maritime Museum, this weekend!
The Old Dock was discovered during excavations back in 2001 and had been buried since 1826! These fantastic free tours now enable members of the public as a reminder of Liverpool’s historic status.
Originally known as Thomas Steers’ dock after the leading canal engineer employed to create it, the Old Dock lies beneath Liverpool ONE, between Chavasse Park and the Hilton Hotel. (Photo: Gavin Trafford) (Photo: Gavin Trafford)

The guided tours take you back 300 years in hoistory and start at the Maritime Museum, from there you will walk to the under ground starting point of the Old Dock Old Dock. You’ll see a large portion of the hand-made brick walls of the Old Dock, rising more than 20ft from the bed of the Pool (which gave Liverpool it’s name).
Tours are available tomorrow Saturday 14th at 10:30 am, noon & 2.30pm! Very limited places – call 0151 478 4499 to reserve a spot!
