Hatters Liverpool Bucket List!
The Hatters Hostel Liverpool Bucket List
Oh hello sunshine! With Summer 2017 now in full swing here are our top things to do in the wonderful city of Liverpool!
Head down to the water front to the Pier Head Village running until 10th September and check out all the attractions, artisan markets, village food court or head to the Urban Beach for a drink!
Take a Bike Ride!
Liverpool has some mint bicycles you can hire for the day or for a few hours or for as long you want. Why not hire one from the city centre and ride it down to the Albert Dock and uber cool Waterfront before bombing it down the promenade alongside the River Mersey out towards Otterspool and Sefton Park.
Take an Evening cruise along the Mersey!
One of our favourite views in Liverpool is the one you get of the beautiful Liverpool skyline from the Mersey, if you hop onto one of the Mersey Ferries early evening you’ll see all the cities landmarks light up and shine back at you. A sight to behold trust us!
Discover a Secret Garden
Head to the Botanical Garden on New Bird Street in the painfully-cool Baltic Triangle for a refreshing Gin and Tonic in their sunshine filled-garden!
Stare at Naked Men
Head out to Crosby beach and see artist Anthony Gormley’s eye catching 100 cast iron (naked) men sprawled along 2 miles of the shore line. Hey why not grab a bike and cycle out!
See Liverpool from the Crows Nest!
Head up Liverpool tallest building – the Radio City Tower and grab some awe-inspiring panoramic views across the whole city. On a clear day you can even see as far as Blackpool! Wow! If you’re scared of heights this might not be for you unless you enjoy being sick on yourself.
Take a bus tour
If you want to see the sights but too lazy to walk or read a book, then the open top bus tour could be just the thing for you! Hop on the City Explorer bus, head up to the top deck and sit back and relax as the tour guide points out all the landmarks to you!
Treat your Taste Buds!
The Liverpool Food Festival is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year and will celebrate Liverpool’s thriving food and drink scene! Head down to Sefton park from 16-17th September, there will be plenty free samples as well for those penny pinchers among you (you know who you are…).
Check out a famous unmade bed!
Okay so you’ve seen an unmade bed before, but this one is kind of special! British artist Tracy Emin’s ‘My Bed’ is one of Britain’s most iconic art pieces of the past 20 years. The Tate Liverpool have it on display down at the Albert Dock until 3rd September 2017!
Find a SuperLambBanana!
These wonderful sculptures were made for the Liverpool Capital of Culture bid back in 2008. They each weigh a staggering 8 tonnes and over 15 feet in length! There are over 100 of them dotted around the city in various locations. The SuperLambBanana is one of the most popular and instantly recognisable pieces of public sculpture in Liverpool!
Picnic in the Park!
Put together a picnic and head out to Sefton Park with friends – how very English! The park is the city’s biggest and a welcome relief to the hustle and bustle of the city centre!
Walk in the footsteps of a Liverpool Footballer!
Catch a glimpse behind the scenes of one of the worlds most iconic football clubs. The all new Anfield Stadium Tour will be open to the public on Friday 25th August and will offer you the chance to see the changing rooms, sit in the press room and even walk out onto the Hallowed Turf! If you’re staying at Hatters you can book a tour at the reception desk!
Visit a grade ll listed toilet!
Yes that’s right the toilets in the famous Philharmonic Pub are that special they are Grade ll listed! Nothing but the best when you busting for the loo! The Philharmonic Pub is probably the city’s most iconic watering holes and a favourite of John Lennon, it’s located on the beautiful Hope Street, just 2 mins walk from Hatters Hostel.
