Lake District | Unesco World Heritage Status

lakes

The Lake District has been awarded Unesco World Heritage Status and will join other world sites such as the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu and the Grand Canyon!

Other than the area’s obvious beauty and awe-inspiring landscapes, the inspiration it has provided artists and writers over the years was a key factor in awarding it the prestigious world status.

The Cumbria hotspot has been trying to achieve the status since 1986 with the chairman of the Lake District National Park Partnership describing the decision as ‘momentous’.

We are thrilled at Hatters Hostels that this amazing area of England is becoming more recognised and hopefully more people will come and visit and see just how great it is, and maybe even venture down to Manchester and see how great our city is too!

If you’re visiting the Lake District, why not use Manchester as a base and stay at Hatters Hostel and then take a day trip up to the Lake District, you can be there in just over an hour! See all the amazing scenery during the day and then make of the most of Manchester bustling city by night, best of both worlds!

Hatters Hostel Manchester is situated in the Northern Quarter, just 5 minutes walk away from the main train station – Manchester Piccadilly. Beds start at just £12 per night with free breakfast and free WiFi.
