Sefton park, Liverpool

England’s biggest African music festival is back again in Liverpool’s Sefton park taking place of the weekend over 17th – 18th June 2017. The popular festival first began in 1992 as a series of small gigs in the centre of Liverpool, Africa Oyé has now grown to such an extent that it takes over the huge Sefton Park to cope with the enormous demand the festival has created. Oyé seeks to reestablish the balance after years of misrepresentation of Africa connected to war and povety.
With too many negative representations of Africa entrenched in images of war, disease, poverty and famine, Oyé seeks to redress the balance and highlight the fantastic range of cultures, foods, music and artists that make this great continent one of the most vibrant and inspiring in the world. If you’re looking for cheap hostel accommodation, Hatters Hostel Liverpool is located just a 15 minute train ride away from all the action at Sefton Park. Click here to book a room in Liverpool.
