Is the hostel in the city centre?
Yes, the hostel is situated right in the city centre a close walk to all shopping areas and nightlife.
Is breakfast included in the price?
Yes, a light breakfast is included in the price and is served between 07.30hrs and 10.00hrs daily. Alternatively, guests can make use of our self-catering kitchen which is open throughout the day and help themselves to tea and coffee
Is linen included?
Yes, all bed linen is included. We have towels to rent for a nominal fee if you forget to bring one.
Are safe keeping facilities provided?
Yes, we provide safekeeping for small items at reception and recommend that guests use this facility as the hostel cannot accept responsibility for any items lost or stolen.
Are left-luggage facilities provided?
Yes, we provide a secure baggage room by our reception that is accessible all day.
Is there an age restriction?
Yes, you must be 18 years or over to stay, unless accompanied by an adult. Guests under the age of 18 are unable to stay in shared dormitories, with people outside of their group.
What are the check in and check out times?
Guests can check in at any time after 14.00hrs and they must check out before 11.00hrs.
Do I require photo ID for check-in?
Yes, we require a valid passport or driver license upon check-in.
Does the hostel have a curfew?
No, there is no curfew at Hatters. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day.
Is there a lock out?
No, once checked in guests have access to their room 24 hours a day.
Are any bedrooms en-suite?
Yes, all of our rooms are en-suite with toilets and showers in every room.
What methods of payment are accepted?
We accept cash, credit/ debit cards (Mastercard and Visa) and travellers cheques only. When making a reservation either a deposit or credit card number is required to guarantee the reservation.
What is your cancellation policy?
For individual reservations the cancellation policy is 24 hours prior to 12pm on the day of arrival.
Bookings made over a minimum night stay cannot be amended to less than the minimum night policy. Where bookings are cancelled 24 hours prior to 12pm on the day of arrival the first night only will be charged. After this time the full minimum stay charge will apply. What are the terms for groups?
Groups are bookings of 7 people or more. For groups of 7-14 people, full payment/ cancellations must be made 7 days prior to arrival. If no attempt has been made to pay for or cancel the reservation, Hatters Hostel Ltd reserve the right to charge the full amount of the booking 7 days prior to the arrival date. Groups of 7-14 people can contact Hatters Birmingham directly to make a booking via the ‘contact us‘ page.
For groups of 15 people or more, we require a 15% deposit (non-refundable) and full payment is due 4 weeks prior to arrival. Any cancellations/ amendments thereafter are non-refundable. To make a group booking of 15 or more people, please complete the group booking enquiry form and our Groups Department will be in contact with you.
Do I have to be a member?
There is no membership fee involved as we are an independently owned hostel. To stay at The Hatters all you require is current photo identification and valid credit/ debit card.
